“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.” -Buddha
I enjoy Buddha, but I suppose I might have more respect for his teachings if they didn't seem so desperately inclusive of every possible situation. They remind me of the fortunes from fortune cookies. Things like "It is a nice day." Oh... well, um, I'm glad that it's a nice day, fortune cookie, but what about my fortune? That is your job, isn't it? To tell me my fortune, my future? I don't think telling me the quality of this day actually passes as my fortune. And "You will take a trip." Yeah? When will I take a trip, fortune cookie? Where will I go? Huh? Tell me that. Yeah, you can't. Didn't think so.
